PROCEDURES FOR INSTALLING TRANSMISSIONS
INTO A VEHICLE
If the converter has to be installed:
-- If the purchaser is installing the converter then:
Pump AND Converter should still have fluid in them, pour one cup down the pump
Make sure Converter is bottomed/or seated into the transmission. Listen to hear "two clunks."
Then:
Cooler should be flushed forward and reverse. No Fluid should be left in lines or cooler
The kickdown lever should be adjusted all the way back when throttle is wide open.
Fill transmission 1/2 to 2/3 capacity with ATF before starting
Make sure transmission is in neutral before starting engine
Fill transmission to capacity, as soon as engine is started, NEVER over fill. It will take about 10-12
qts with a stock pan, 19-20 with a double deep pan.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTES:
On ALL TRANSMISSIONS the shift cable must be adjusted when replacing entire component
Let transmission shift 50 to 100 times through all forward gears BEFORE running at wide open
throttle.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE STEPS MAY VOID WARRANTY!
Note: HTS recommends using AFT +3 or +4
